Glassblowing !!
In Pittsburgh, fall is about to end.. and the dreadful winter is on its way.
Grad school had kept me busy for a while...and didn't want to miss out on any of the festivities..so my friend Mindy and me took a trip to the Pittsburgh glass center for their fall event . Their fall event was about glassblowing pumpkins and making Halloween decorations. This was my first experience with glassblowing and I totally loved it. Although it maybe a little dangerous, because you are constantly playing with hot... flaming... molten glass, it was loads of fun !!
Take a visual tour below..

That is me blowing into the glass...;) That is not the final color yet... and see how beautifully the stem is being coiled onto the pumpkin to give a natural feel... And here is what I created... My little blue pumpkin...:)..Why blue..coz I just love the color ;) Do you think glassblowing is your thing..? learn more about glassblowing here. xoxo |

Happy Diwali...
Diwali..more commonly known as the "festival of lights"....marks the start of the festive season for us Indians...It signifies not only the victory of good over evil but also signifies the light of hope and self awakening that lies within each one of us.
Living in the US has only added to the list of celebrations *grin..grin*.. and really whether you celebrate it or not..who would mind a reason to dress up... party with friends..light up candles..make and eat delicious food..have guests over...click loads of pictures..and make memories that would last a lifetime.
Heres wishing each and everyone of you a blessed and safe Diwali..

The morning sun...
This week has been crazy for me at work...I have been busy doing my cloning experiment which takes almost a week to get over...no I am not cloning a baby goat or anything... but this is for the gene I work with. Today I reached work at 7am ( which almost never happens!)... and what a beautiful morning it was.
Watching the rising sun is ever so romantic. While the tubes were on the shaker for ten minutes I made use of that time to squeeze in some quota of creativity for the day. I took a few pictures from the seventh floor of my work place.
Check them out....:)

The window...
I bought a huge sheet of rice paper with the intention of painting it. But instead, used it all for a project at grad school. At the end of it all there was a tiny strip of paper( ~7 inches x 4 inches) left behind and I really didn't want to throw it away......... then I painted "The Window". The paints that I used here are simple water colors..nothing complicated :). Although I have tried experimenting different styles of paintings but impressionism is what I love painting...

My maiden one...
As this is my first ever post on my blog ,I thought of starting it on a positive note...with loads of positive energy. Hence the mention of Lord Buddha...and Bamboo..
In my profession it is often hard to find time for the real things you would love to do ;).....and then in November last year, when I fractured my foot, I was under house arrest, as getting used to being on crutches took forever. Moreover, I was scared that I might break the other foot while crossing the road or getting on the bus.. :P Hence this pent up energy for creativity was put to better use.
Hopefully I will paint more and you guys can see more of it....
