Fall DIY wreath

I am knocking on wood a zillion times before uttering this...." its been such a nice week....for I found time to do the things I love to do "...:

Below is my first attempt at making a DIY wreath.... specially because these were all over the blog world and have been on pinterest for almost a year now. I am going to take you through a tutorial via clicks of my wreath in different stages.....

First, I collected the following supplies:

1) Swimming noodle ( from Amazon  -0.99c)
2) Fall foliage fake flowers ( from a Goodwill store - $2)
3) Wide tape ( office supplies at home)
4) Nails/ paper pins ( supplies at home )

So here it is....

The huge swimming noodle...I am still wondering why I placed an order for the color blue.....don't you think green would have been a better option.

My fake Fall flowers from a random buy at goodwill stores.... so pretty... :D

Next,  I taped up the ends of the noodle together.  I couldn't  get the perfect round shape, but I kinda liked the imperfection.....

And began plugging in my pretty flowers.  I tried to stick them with super glue initially, but the super glue would simply get sucked into the noodle... tape worked for a bit....

So finally I tired nailing the flowers and leaves and I think that is what will help to hold them tightly in place.  For bigger flowers, I tried to drill holes into the noodle with a huge nail and just pushed them in with their stems...

And as I proceeded......I had to try all sorts of tricks to make sure the leaves...flowers....all were in place..I guess you can see loads of ugly tape in the pic below..The biggest challenge was to hide the blue noodle...and. the tape..

I covered it all by the left over maple leaves.... and I think it looks pretty cute.. May be tomorrow morning I will add a few twigs from the street.... for that perfect "raw" fall look...!!

And here is my Fall wreath...... hanging pretty on my door :)  Total project cost ..$3!!

Wishing you a lovely Fall....... Happy weekend!!!

After a hiatus- part 2

Dear Readers,

I guess the title of this post says it all.... So much has happened in life ..that blogging just had to take a back seat..... but I have missed it terribly... because it is my only outlet for creatively amidst all that life has to offer....So after months of ignoring my little space that I call "Home"...I finally pulled up my socks and decided to do a few things.... (i) clean -up (ii) redecorate (iii) ...and CHANGE....

Here's presenting some snippets from today...hope you all like it...

So..I began with this....MESS!!

And followed it with images below .....after I rearranged my decorative pieces.

The idea below.. has been inspired from pinterest.  I took an old photo frame and ordered some cute butterflies from Umbra.  This wall really needed something on it... and I think this corner looks cute and cozy now..

Scented candles... I am absolutely in love with  Yankee's.. Sun and Sand candles.. they make you feel like you have just hit the beach..

The plate in the picture below..is a sharpie project.... that is all over pinterest.  I drew on it and baked it at 350F for 15 minutes.  Although I am not intending to use this plate...but I am keeping in mind that I will definitively clean it once in a while, hence making sure the sharpie was permanent.

My lovely colleague, Debby gifted me this teapot during one of  my roughest times at work... Isn't it pretty . Needless to say she knows all about my love for "Keep Calm" things and accessories.

Then I took a little break...with some chai and did some catching up on my favorite magazines...on fashion...style...and for a change read something apart from science.

I was still quenching for more creativity....so I had to pull out my collection of glass jars and bottles that I had been intending to paint forever....below is a tutorial thru' pictures...

And finally presenting... my dinette...did you like the change..the tea lights... I thought it looked simple and pretty... and the little addition of the twigs...from the street just added to the spirit of Fall.....

What say... you'll...??  Have a crafty rest of the week...!!!

Strei...the women.

The Strié is a popular form of faux painting using glaze and paint brushes to create a soft natural striped texture. When I read about it, I instantly fell in love with it and wanted to try it right away... but paint what...?? ..Incidentally "strei" in Hindi means women, I somehow wanted to put both these words and meanings into one painting and call my collection "Strei- the women"......

Take a look..

I have highlighted two aspects in these paintings.  One is the "sindoor"  and "bindi",  popularly significant with married women in India. and the other being the chandelier earrings... because we are so famous for all our bling bling... :)

I have plans of making a entire collection with different Indian accessories along with incorporating Strei in it. Hope you all liked it...xoxo.

I took less than a minute to assemble this cute little vase...It now rests right next to my favorite lavender candles.  Simple Bimple!!!
